How to Remove Antivirus Software
If you've changed your antivirus protection recently, we show you how to safely remove your old or outdated antivirus software.
Today I'm going to teach you how to correctly uninstall anti-virus programs from your computer. If an anti-virus program is not properly uninstalled before a new one is put on your system, it can cause conflicts, or even damage your computer. For this example I'm going to properly uninstall Symantec's Norton Antivirus from this system. One of the most important things to remember is to use the Program's own uninstaller application. Do not use the uninstalling function found in the control panel. Run the program and click continue. Then click on the option that says 'Norton complete uninstall'. If you wish you may take a short survey telling the company why you are uninstalling the program. But I'm going to skip that. Once the Uninstaller has finished make sure you restart your system immeditately. This will ensure that there are no conflicts with any future progam you put on the system. Once you have restarted I would highly reccomend running a system registry cleaner like Advanced System Optimizer to make sure that the program is completly removed from your registry. Then restart your system again. Following these steps for uninstalling antivirus programs will go a long way to make sure that conflicts between porgrams don't crash your computer or cause other damage. And that's this tip.
