It pays to be a realist in today's online world. After all, computers, computer components and computer software are expensive, even when they are functioning perfectly well. There are, however, a vast number of ways for your computer to break down. Perhaps the most common way is through infection by any of the myriad computer viruses circulating right now. These are constantly changing, adapting themselves to break through the security systems designed to stop them.
One of the most common computer viruses is the Windows Armour Master virus. Do not be misled by the Windows moniker used in the name of this virus. It is without question a 100-percent sham anti-virus software application. Typically, it affects computers that use the following operating systems: Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 7.
Make no mistake that the Windows Armour Master virus is a global cyber swindle. It has been responsible for separating PC users from their money for a long time.
The way that the Windows Armour Master virus works – and perhaps the number one reason you need to be aware of it – is that it infects your computer with completely bogus anti-virus software. The Windows Armour Master virus is designed to look like real anti-virus software, for obvious reasons, but there are some dead giveaways to look for when determining whether an anti-virus application like the Windows Armour Master virus is a sham.
Software like the Windows Armour Master virus is often what is called malware. Malware is simply defined as software – such as viruses, worms or Trojans – that are designed to bring about harm, disruption and in some cases destruction to computer systems.
Windows Armour Master has been found to utilize several of these types of insidious, malicious and deceitful tactics. Some of the devices normally employed include non-existent scans, fake virus alerts and phony scan results. In this manner, the Windows Amour Master virus is able to trick computer users into panicking and overreacting because they believe that a virus has ruthlessly attacked and infected their computers.
In addition to the Windows Armour Master virus, there are several other fake or rogue anti-virus scanner software or downloads available these days. A lot of these will modify some of the properties on your internet browser window in order to appear to be valid anti-virus software, when it is really only the browser window.
Probably the best – and therefore the most wicked – reason viruses like the Windows Armour Master virus work for so long is that people generally do not like to feel like fools. Most of us would rather walk barefoot over a bed of red-hot coals than admit we fell for some type of scam that, in retrospect, seems so obviously and ridiculously bogus. This said, however, most of us will find ourselves in this awkward position from time to time.
So, keep the warning signs listed here filed away somewhere in your mind and make sure you ask questions before agreeing to anything new or strange that pops up on your computer screen.
