There is no such thing as overdone computer security, but Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 comes close with its wide array of security tools. Not only does this security suite come with the tools to prevent viruses and other malware from infiltrating your computer, but it also possesses the tools needed to clean a system that is already inundated with viruses. Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 offers so many security features that if there was not a clear and present danger to practically every computer connected to the internet, all of the precautions this antivirus software possesses could be said to border on paranoia.

Kaspersky's user interface received only a few changes, but the few changes made have affected its usability in a positive way. The screens in the Kaspersky load and open much faster in this version, which is definitely an improvement. There are so many options and screens that the sluggish screens detracted from the experience of using the security software in the past.

Several new features are present in the Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 suite, including the application of multiple improvements to the sandboxing tool that was first released in 2009. The sandbox tool, named Safe Run, can now be used on the desktop. Safe Surf allows you to access each web page through a secure connection, and the software scans each web page for viruses and other threats. This provides protection against innocent web sites that have become infected by third-party viruses and other malware.

The rescue CD feature can be transferred to a USB stick, which is a much easier method of carrying a repair kit. One of the most unique and useful tools that Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 has to offer is the ability to repair and disinfect computers that have been all but disabled by viruses already. In most cases, malware can resist removal attempts once the virus is situated in a computer system. This makes the prevention of computer viruses very important, but this security suite offers the ability to purge a system once is has become virus ridden. The System Watcher provided within the security tools allows you to keep a log of all unverified software and the changes they have made. If Kaspersky deems any software dangerous, you can roll back any changes to your computer using System Watcher.

Kaspersky Internet Security affects a computer's performance on a moderate level, though the performance hit is minimal considering the features offered by this product. System reboots take approximately five seconds longer with the Kaspersky security suite running. AV-Test.org gave Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 high marks, placing it at the top of the competition in terms of security ratings and certification. Out of 6 points, Kaspersky's security tools received a 5.0 for protection, 5.5 for repair and 5.5 for usability. In order to become certified, security software must receive at least 12 points total, and Kaspersky received 16 of 18.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 features represent some of the finest security available, though some people might think that the price is a little too steep. However, the danger of losing invaluable data is not something that anyone should be willing to risk. If you are unsure about whether Kaspersky is worth the investment, you can download a one-month free trial and test the software for yourself.
